Looking for a great online supplier for your model railroading? Try Last Cavalry www.lastcavalry.com. Pay no mind to the fact that they are oriented to the military modeling community - our needs and theirs overlap much more than some realize. In fact, perusing such web sites oriented to the military modeler expose us to product lines and specific products that we likely did not even know exist. Once one has been in the hobby a few years - or perhaps sooner - one realizes that one does not want one's layout to look like something out of the Walthers catalog. Nor do we want our layout to look like an advertisement for Woodland Scenics. Online retailers aimed at the military modeler come to the rescue in this regard.
The range of items carried include paints, brushes, supplies; weathering products; diorama accessories; figure kits; toy soldiers; model kit; and books, mags, DVDs. I have purchased from Last Cavalry twice and was impressed with the depth of scenery products and books they stock. I was also impressed with the personal service that proprietor David Youngquist provided me. I have my supplies delivered to my office and given holiday closings, David telephoned me to inquire as to how he should schedule his shipping to accommodate those holiday and weekend closings of my office.
I have purchased books, decals and other modeling supplies from Last Cavalry.
A word about Youngquist. As his web site explains, he used his fine art painting to begin painting for Corgi in 2004 and with William Britain toy soldier company in 2005. No mention is made of when he started this company.
A word about ordering online. Yes, I do believe that we should patronize our local hobby shops first. But the reality is that they often do not carry the product lines we seek from time to time. So, give David a try.
Your blogger has neither personal nor business ties with this business.
