While Osprey www.ospreypublishing.com i largely known as a publisher of military history, it does publish quite a few modeling books. Books of this sort are often overlooked by model railroaders. Yet they serve to both inspire and share scenery techniques with their readers. Windrow's book is profusely illustrated with color photographs.

Chapters are:

Preparation, Materials & Techniques
Rocks, Cliffs, and a Mountain Torrent
Grass & Fields, Hedges & Bushes
Modelling Trees (with Barry Bowen)
An Autumn Wood
Scorched Earth (Fire Effects)
Jungle
More Water Effects
Sand & Gravel (Beach & Desert Effects)
Tracks & Road
Model Surfaces
Snow & Ice

Windrow's book ends with a useful appendix for product sources.

While it is not specifically addressed to model railroaders, it is another great modeling how-to book from the Brits. Buy it!
