This is Jean Bouchery's sixth major book. Born and raised in Normandy, Jean has been writing about the allied armies of WWII for over forty years.

Co-author Philippe Charbonier is editor of Militaria Magazine, a French monthly.

If your model railroad or diorama incorporates US military vehicles of WWII, you must get your hands on this book by Casemate Publishers. The topics covered  in U.S. Army Vehicle Markings 1944 will make your head spin. Subjects covered include registration numbers, national identification markings, usage markings, unit markings, tactical markings, and unit serial numbers. See what I mean? Before reading this book, I had no idea that such military vehicles had such a variety of numbered affixed to each.

If this hardcover book has any shortcomings it would be the emphasis on the European Theater of Operations (ETO). Since I model WWII Hawaii (actually, Oahu), I could have benefitted perhaps by more extensive coverage of the US Army in Hawaii.
