So why review books from foreign publishers such as in this case from England? Such books are rarely seen in American hobby shops. Indeed, they don't ever seem to be reviewed in American magazines, so how else can anyone learn about this treasure trove of techniques and ideas? Frankly, I would be interested in German and French how-to books but I possess the ability to read neither language - so I will settle for books from the British Isles.

After a Preface, Hill's techniques are laid out in eight chapters: Introduction; Starting Out;
Cuttings, Cliff Faces and Rocky Outcrops; Let It Grow: Grass, Vegetation, Water Marginal, and Flowers; Water; Trees; Fences, Walls and hedges; Conclusion; and Suppliers of Materials. An index is also thoughtfully provided at the end.

I found this book instructive and encouraging.
