Project

My stepson has a room dedicated to his tinplate layout (very highly scenicked though). One of his O-scale rolling stock was decorated in Great Northern livery with a horizontal tank that got lost and would never be re-attached. Rather than throw the tank away I performed the following magic on it

1. Remove Great Northern white circular logo from end with some alcohol I had on hand
2. Remove the under-scale O scale ladder
3. Re-attach with wood glue the stand that was detached
4. Spray the tank with  Testors Dullcote 3 oz
5. Applied two colors of rust powder from Bragdon Enterprises
6. Dusted off excessive rust powder
7. Sprayed a rattle can of Testors Dullcote to seal in the rust
8. Set on my layout near the 1:20.3 scale engine house in Waipahu

There you have it; eight steps to a neat detail on my Oahu Sugar Company layout. The engines on the Oahu Sugar Company were fueled by oil but this tank would be too small to represent an oil tank. I consider that the tank would hold some other fluid.
