Project - O scale Grandt Line No. 3565 storefront to replace photo flat

 Project

Photo 1 -This is a photo that shows quite a bit of assembly.

O scale commercial storefront no 3565 under construction by N Kalis

A quick word - I am using an O scale kit here because my Town of Waipahu is modeled in O scale. Why? To achieve what modelers commonly call "forced perspective" - though technically it is "reduced scale". Forced perspective is more accurately applied to where modelers utilize perspective lines to induce the appearance that something modeled is farther away than it really is.

I would never have imagined this simple storefront would come in so many castings which each must be detached from sprues and sanded and glued together. I used discarded trophy bases as my weights.

Lots of parts to glue together this is an under-construction photo tonight’s work. This is 11 parts! Two more parts during out of camera view. Modelers using this part should be warned that no clear acetate provided. It is a very fiddly kit - thin sections easily break - actually, breakage seems unavoidable. I am using Model Master liquid cement no 8872 to assemble these parts.

I will add a few more storefronts to achieve the look I am seeking.
