Helpful Hint - Painted Pegboard as Layout Skirt

Helpful Hint

As I have opined elsewhere, a well-executed skirt is an important element in any model railroad. An examination of this topic will lead us soon to realize that model railroaders have taken many different paths in this journey. Here a layout builder has made an ingenious effort and used pegboard - painted white - as his skirt. I think it works reasonably well given the choice of paint. This pegboard skirt has the advantage that no unsightly creases appear as is the case when fabric is employed as a layout skirt. Pegboard also avoids the difficult task of cutting and sewing the heavy fabric a fabric skirt would require. Had the panel on the right been placed plumb the unseemly gap at where the panels meet could have been eliminated and a much nicer appearance been achieved.

I would venture that even if this pegboard had been painted a flat grey that this skirt would have worked equally as well.
