Visit - Truro Historical Society's Highland House Museum

Photograph by Mark Gionet 2023

This summer (2023), my friend Mark Gionet visited this museum hosted by the Truro Historical Society and chanced upon this charming diorama. I love such dioramas and never miss the opportunity to post a photo or two about them when given the chance.

Here is how the exhibit is described in their website (posted for educational purposes only - please notify the blogger should you wish this removed and it will be promptly removed):

Step back in time and discover the fascinating history of Pamet Harbor. The Highland House Museum is proud to present our latest exhibit for the 2023 season.

175 years ago, Pamet Harbor stood as one of the United States’ foremost fishing and maritime centers. This exhibition delves into the extraordinary period when 45 vessels, manned by the country’s leading fishermen, set sail from the harbor. Truro was not only a home to renowned sailing ship captains but also a thriving hub for businesses centered around four bustling wharves.

At the heart of the exhibit lies a meticulously crafted model of the harbor, capturing its essence in stunning detail. Accompanying panels shed light on the harbor’s significance, the town’s vibrant atmosphere, and Truro’s prominent role as a leading maritime center.
