Started in 2017 and completed in 2018, this layout was exhibited at Chelmsford Model Railway Club Exhibition 2019, The Yard by Martin Coombs features an interesting valance. Note that the scale is presented in two alternate ways: first as a numeric ratio (1:43.5) and below as a ratio of measurements 7mm to the foot. This can be quite a necessity as model railroads on the other side of the pond tend to be built in a larger variety of scales than normally found in the United States. His stenciled lettering is also apropos - this builder seeks to give the lettering an industrial dimension.
A few more features are of interest here. His lorries (trucks) run! Martin's valance appears to simulate a painted steel girder - interesting and unique. Your blogger presents such layouts not for the purpose of others copying their approach but rather to get his readers' creative juices flowing. Perhaps other modelers could consider incorporating a unique valance in their layouts?
