Take a look at this diorama at the Natural History Museum of Utah. Notice how unattractive it appears when the backdrop that meets in a corner instead of being curved. This is also unusual as most museum dioramas utilize a curved backdrop.In fairness to the museum, this exhibit was curated to teach lessons about museum dioramas. In any case, it provides an excellent learning tool for model railroaders. So when you are considering your layout backdrop and whether it should be curved, remember the above photograph.
