Written 49 years ago (as of this writing), Blum's chapter on "diorama building" is really just a description of the mechanics of building a diorama with some brief description of scenery techniques. Another chapter follows entitled "displaying" which discusses enclosed dioramas. This short book published by Imrie/Risley Miniatures serves to instruct readers as to how far diorama building has come in the past half century.

Blum's
The Model Soldier Manual, A basic guide would serve today's model railroader little. The only groundbreaking Blum performs is a page illustrating horse markings and a companion page with a paint chart for painting horses - and those would only be useful to a large scale modeler.

Only if one is interested in painting horses or following the history of books on model soldiers and dioramas, would I recommend this 39-page pamphlet.
