Even a manhole cover can tell a story on your model railroad layout. This manhole cover suggests it is in Long Island City in Queens, New York. I have a fondness for Long Island City as I set a previous layout of mine in just that place. If you are modeling in O scale or larger, such a detail might just make sense for your model railroad.
A search on the internet just might help locate the appropriate photograph. Or you can take a photograph of the prototype and then print it out to scale on your color printer.
