Its never too early to make plans to visit in 2022; the 2021 show has been cancelled.

In early 2020, I visited this show at the Easter States Exposition Fairgrounds with Gary Eames and a friend. The above photo shows that the excitement began even outside the doors. In 2018, the show's fiftieth anniversary, the show boasted 400,000 square feet of trains and train-related exhibits. Bored with shopping? The show also featured numerous clinics. Everyone should at least once make the the pilgrimage to the Amherst Railway Society's Railroad Hobby Show. Candidly, it seemed most folks made the pilgrimage with a friend - its a long trip from the Washington, DC area to West Springfield. And everyone comes home with great purchases. Our group of fellows took Amtrak and stayed at a hotel that was a short walk from Springfield Union Station (also a bus station). From there we took a taxi to the show and then an Uber to get back.
